Perfumer
Serge de Oliveira is a perfumer at Robertet, where he has made natural perfumes from his very first day. For Room 1015 he made Purple Mantra and Sweet Leaf, a perfume of cannabis and eucalyptus.
He says himself that he came to perfumery by an unusual route. He didn’t study chemistry. Instead he did two years at a technical school for cosmetics and pharmacy, then a year at ISIPCA training as an assistant perfumer. He worked in product development for L’Oréal and Dior, and checked the quality of scents at Chanel. He joined Robertet as an assistant and became a perfumer in 2013. Since 2019 he has worked in Paris, on perfumes and on scents for products like shower gels.
He says the smells that appeal to him most are the slightly dark ones, like patchouli and vetiver. He likes to soften natural ingredients so the perfume isn’t rough. He finds ideas in travel, museums, cities, food and fashion. He wears both of his Room 1015 perfumes himself.
