Perfumer

Nathalie Lorson

Nathalie Lorson, a master perfumer at DSM-Firmenich, has made perfumes for Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Armani and Dior. For the Paris house Maison Violet she has made Nuée Bleue and Abîme, among others.

Who is Nathalie Lorson

She was born in Grasse, and as a child she went along with her father to Roure, where he worked. In 1980 she started at the Roure perfumery school, and she got her first job as a perfumer at IFF. She moved to Firmenich in 2000 and is still there today. She has also worked for Jil Sander and Dolce & Gabbana, and in 2015 she was named Perfumer of the Year in France and Italy.

Signature style

Her perfumes are balanced and soft, with nothing sharp in them. Even so, her perfumes for Maison Violet are very different from one another. In Nuée Bleue it’s the iris you notice most, Abîme is darker, with black pepper and incense, and Compliment smells of white flowers. All of them feel rich on skin, but never heavy.
