Perfumer
Nathalie Feisthauer spent thirty years at big fragrance companies, then opened her own studio, LAB Scent, in Montmartre. Today she works only with independent brands, among them L'Orchestre and Milano Fragranze.
The daughter of a teacher and a painter from Alsace-Lorraine, she discovered Opium at sixteen and decided to make perfume. In 1983 she started at the Roure school in Grasse, its first student with no family in perfumery. Then came twenty-five years at Givaudan and six at Symrise, with a spell in New York. In those years she made perfumes for Hermès, Cartier and Etat Libre d’Orange. She opened her studio in 2014, and in 2019 she won the FiFi award for Perfumer of the Year in Russia.
She says she enjoys the work more since going independent. She now deals directly with the people who run a brand, and she’s free to say no. She likes bright themes, such as lemonade or neon lights. Mono Cachemire for L'Orchestre is a soft, musky perfume, with iris and pear in it too.
