Illustrated portrait of Miroslav Petkov, Bulgarian perfumer at IFF behind Saudade for Botanicae

Perfumer

Miroslav Petkov

Miroslav Petkov comes from Plovdiv in Bulgaria and now works as a perfumer at IFF in Dubai. He has made perfumes for Xerjoff and Bond No 9, and for Botanicae he made Saudade, which smells of a Portuguese pastel de nata.

Who is Miroslav Petkov

From Bulgaria he went first to Argentina. Within a year he moved on to Spain, where his career took off. From there he moved to IFF in Dubai. His work includes Dolce Amalfi for Xerjoff, and he has also made perfumes for Attar Collection and Arabian Oud. Saudade was presented in 2025 at the Pitti Fragranze fair.

Signature style

Petkov likes gourmand perfumes, the kind that smell of something sweet you could eat. He often takes the idea from a place or a culture. For Saudade it was Portugal. The perfume is sweet, with caramel and egg custard, but thanks to the jasmine it doesn’t smell only of dessert.
