Illustrated portrait of Michael Nordstrand, independent New York perfumer behind Virtues for Caeleste

Perfumer

Michael Nordstrand

Michael Nordstrand is an independent perfumer working near New York, where he runs his own Mythologist Studio. For the Romanian house Caeleste he made Virtues, a warm extrait with honey and incense.

Who is Michael Nordstrand

He trained through Givaudan, ISIPCA and the Grasse Institute of Perfumery, and he has also studied cosmetic science. In 2024 the British Society of Perfumers gave him an award for Patchoulÿ Tartessos. A year later Bad Lily, made for Tale Parfum, won an Art and Olfaction Award. Virtues is his first perfume for Caeleste.

Signature style

He does earthy and floral scents equally well, and both his patchouli perfume and his lily perfume have won awards. Virtues, with spice, honey and incense, smells a little like a church. It stays close to the skin, but as an extrait it lasts a long time.
