Giuseppe Imprezzabile - Meo Fusciuni

Meo Fusciuni is the working name of the Sicilian perfumer Giuseppe Imprezzabile, who has run a house under that name since 2010. Carthusia invites different perfumers to make its Intenso collection, and he made the extraits Intenso di Sandalo and Intenso di Nero for it.

Who is Meo Fusciuni

He was born in 1977 in Mazara del Vallo, a fishing town in western Sicily. He took his working name from his family. Meo is from his father’s name, and Fusciuni, meaning a stream, from his grandfather’s. He never went to perfumery school. He studied chemistry and botany, and spent years working with medicinal herbs. Later the perfumer Arturetto Landi became his mentor. He started his first perfume, Nota di Viaggio, in Istanbul in 2009. Today he works in an atelier in Sarzana, Liguria, with his partner Federica Castellani.

Signature style

For each new perfume he first writes a text, and only then looks for the scents that go with it. He releases his own perfumes in collections, and the first was inspired by Istanbul, Morocco and Sicily. Of the natural ingredients, vetiver is the one he uses most. For Carthusia, Intenso di Sandalo smells of creamy sandalwood, liquorice and Sichuan pepper. Intenso di Nero is darker, with oud, chocolate and saffron.
