Perfumer
Mattia Sorrentino chose to stay in Italy and learn perfumery there. For Jijide he made Dentro, a bitter, warm perfume with coffee, tobacco and cocoa.
He was born in Milan in 1996. He taught himself perfumery first, then took an intensive course at the Italian Perfumery Institute. Fresh from the course, he turned up at a Jijide event with an idea for a perfume about Italy. Jijide found it a little conservative and split it into a perfume about staying in Italy and one about leaving. Edda Salvadori made the perfume about leaving at his invitation, and he made Dentro, the one about staying, just as he had stayed himself.
Sorrentino starts from memories and feelings, so his perfumes are very personal. He likes rich, unusual scents. Dentro comes from the memory of a bitter moka coffee, which is really just an excuse to sit down and spend time with family.
