Perfumer
Jordi Fernandez is a self-taught perfumer from Catalonia who now works at Givaudan. People in the trade call him the master of oud. For Sasva he has made Light of the Earth and Forbidden Words, among others.
He never went to a perfumery school like ISIPCA. He started out at the Spanish company Eurofragance and then moved to Givaudan. One of his better-known perfumes is Montblanc Explorer, which he made with Antoine Maisondieu and Olivier Pescheux. Gaël Montero, who now makes perfumes for Sasva too, trained under him.
He got the master of oud nickname because he uses oud generously, yet in the traditional way. For Sasva he makes warm, spicy, woody perfumes. Light of the Earth is earthy and warm, while Forbidden Words is darker and sweeter, with tobacco, oud and vanilla.
