Perfumer
Gaël Montero grew up in Madrid and now works as a perfumer for Givaudan in Dubai. For Sasva he made L’Amour Libertin, a warm perfume of poppy, saffron and tobacco, and for Memo Paris he made Madurai.
He has French and Spanish roots. He took a perfumery degree at Montpellier University, then trained under Jordi Fernandez in Barcelona before joining the Givaudan Perfumery School in Paris. Madurai, with jasmine sambac, sandalwood and citrus, was his first perfume for Memo Paris.
Montero says perfumery is both art and science to him. One day he would like to make a perfume that smells of the sun-scorched plants he remembers from his Spanish childhood. The Middle East, where he now lives, also influences his work. You can smell it in the dark, spicy L’Amour Libertin.
