Illustrated portrait of Edda Salvadori, young Italian perfumer behind Oltre for Jijide

Perfumer

Edda Salvadori

Young perfumer Edda Salvadori left Ferrara for Paris to learn her craft. Her first perfume, Oltre for Jijide, was inspired by leaving home. It’s powdery and musky, with a touch of lavender.

Who is Edda Salvadori

She was born in Ferrara in 2001. As a girl she read in a newspaper that a smell can bring back a memory, and perfume has fascinated her ever since. She started at the Italian Perfumery Institute, then moved to Paris to study at ISIPCA. The people at Jijide met her while she was still studying. Mattia Sorrentino made Dentro for them, a perfume about staying, and she made Oltre, about leaving. At Jijide they say Oltre is convincing because she left home herself.

Signature style

She uses perfume to keep memories that would otherwise fade. Her motto is “may everything I do be a labour of love”. Adam James Cavallari, Jijide’s co-founder, calls her a natural who is also very diligent. He and his team liked how thoroughly she researches, and how well she captures the smell of very specific things. In Oltre those are a hot iron on a white shirt and the keys to the house.
