Illustrated portrait of Coralie Spicher, DSM-Firmenich perfumer behind Berbera for Nissaba

Perfumer

Coralie Spicher

Born in Geneva, Coralie Spicher works as a perfumer at DSM-Firmenich in Paris. For Nissaba she made Berbera with Fabrice Pellegrin, and for Réserve en Afrique she made Rouge Karkade.

Who is Coralie Spicher

She got her first perfume for her twelfth birthday, and she loved it. She began biochemistry at the University of Geneva, then took a master’s at the École Supérieure du Parfum in Paris. She joined Firmenich in Geneva, and in 2018 she entered the company’s perfumery school. She often works in a pair with Pellegrin, for Nissaba and Ajmal alike, and at Réserve en Afrique she also works with Alexandra Monet.

Signature style

She likes watching people, at home and on her travels. She notices the way they cook, dress and speak, what they value and the smells around them every day. Her ideas come from places, people, architecture and food. Berbera, named after a port in Somaliland, smells of frankincense and myrrh, and in Rouge Karkade it’s the hibiscus you smell most.
