Illustrated portrait of Céline Ellena, Grasse perfumer behind The Different Company's scents

Perfumer

Céline Ellena

Céline Ellena, a perfumer from Grasse, has made the perfumes for The Different Company since 2005. With her father she made Flower Glyph for the Californian house Liis, a floral perfume with ink, blueberry and honeysuckle.

Who is Céline Ellena

She was born and raised in Grasse, in a family where her grandfather, her father and an uncle were all perfumers. She first studied linguistics and psychology, then went to ISIPCA and began working for major houses. For Hermès she designed the home fragrance collection. When her father moved to Hermès, she took over The Different Company, the house he had founded, and made Sel de Vétiver for it in 2006.

Signature style

She says she makes each perfume as good as it can be, whatever the cost or the marketing. The Different Company says she is curious and analytical. Her Sel de Vétiver has vetiver, sea salt and grapefruit, so it’s fresh and salty.
