Perfumer
Cécile Zarokian runs her own studio in Paris and makes rich, warm perfumes that come through well on skin. For Teo Cabanel she made Café Cabanel, a perfume of coffee, cinnamon and vanilla.
She graduated from ISIPCA and spent four years at Robertet, first in Grasse and then in Paris. There, in 2009, she made her first perfume, Epic Woman for Amouage, and it became a bestseller straight away. She opened her studio in 2011, now works there with a team of seven, and makes perfumes for brands in Europe, the Americas and the Middle East. Together they’ve made hundreds of perfumes so far.
She often makes opulent perfumes in the oriental style. Café Cabanel could easily have ended up too sweet, but coffee is what you smell most. She’s also interested in how perfume links up with other arts, so she came up with [IP]01, an exhibition of perfume and illustration. It was shown in Paris, London and at the Milan Triennale.
