Perfumer
Amélie Bourgeois, perfumer and co-founder of the Paris studio Flair, makes perfumes for Versatile Paris, Sora Dora, L'Orchestre and Room 1015. She usually works from one clear idea and leaves out anything the perfume doesn’t need.
She trained at the Cinquième Sens school in Paris. She started out at Firmenich, working for big fashion houses, and then moved to Symrise. Her first perfume was Rouge Assassin for Jovoy in 2009, inspired by the cancan dancers of the 1920s. In 2012 she opened her own studio, Flair, in Paris, and her school friend Anne-Sophie Behaghel soon joined her. Flair works for smaller houses, designers and artists who want a perfume made to measure.
She often starts from an image or a dish, and you can easily recognise it in the finished perfume. For Sora Dora she likes making warm, gourmand perfumes, such as the spicy Brocéliande with vanilla and rum. She also works for L'Orchestre, whose perfumes are inspired by music, and her perfumes for Room 1015 are darker and more serious. She makes some perfumes alone and others with her colleagues at Flair.
