Illustrated portrait of Ambre Bouchard, Flair Paris perfumer behind Very Bad Rice

Perfumer

Ambre Bouchard

Ambre Bouchard is a young perfumer at the Paris studio Flair. For Versatile Paris she made Very Bad Rice, a creamy perfume that smells of mango sticky rice and coconut.

Who is Ambre Bouchard

She grew up in a family of artists, with an architect father and a mother who is a visual artist. As a curious child she smelled the soil, every kind of plant and the skin of the people she loved. Smells still remind her of places and people. She studied at the University of Montpellier and then joined Flair. A year later she made Very Bad Rice.

Signature style

She says scent calms her, and Flair describes her as an analytical, disciplined perfumer. The idea for Very Bad Rice came from memories of Thailand. She wanted the perfume to smell warm first, of cooked and puffed rice, and sweet only second.
