Illustrated portrait of Alexandra Monet, DSM-Firmenich perfumer behind Chaco for Nissaba

Perfumer

Alexandra Monet

Parisian perfumer Alexandra Monet works at DSM-Firmenich and likes pairing ingredients that don’t seem to belong together. She made Chaco for Nissaba and Vanille Mafonja for Réserve en Afrique.

Who is Alexandra Monet

She was born and raised in Paris, in a home where her father wore Eau Sauvage and her mother Diorella. At thirteen she found out about ISIPCA, the perfumery school in Versailles, and the perfumer Françoise Caron encouraged her. She spent six years working in Munich before moving back to Paris. She has been a perfumer for more than fifteen years and has worked for L’Oréal, Yves Rocher and Victoria’s Secret.

Signature style

She loves to travel, and India is her favourite place. When she puts ingredients that rarely meet into one perfume, she makes sure they still go well together. She works for big beauty groups and small independent houses alike, so her perfumes vary a lot. Chaco is fresh and spicy, while Vanille Mafonja, made with Coralie Spicher, is warm, with vanilla.
